Dr. Smith first served as a dentist in the United States Air Force then he went into a private practice as an associate of Dr. Wilton Cogswell. Dr. Cogswell was an innovator and internationally recognized oral surgeon in Colorado Springs. Several years later, he started a solo practice and in 1990, Dr. Smith became a partner in Rota and Smith Dental Center located in the Briargate area. In 2010, Dr. Smith came full circle and opened his own practice in the downtown area where he is presently practicing.

We do everything we can to make your dental appointment as comfortable as possible, including ultra-comfort dental chairs, neck pillows, blankets, Nitrous Oxide and oral sedation. However the most important thing is how we take care of our patients. Dr. Smith sees only one patient at a time and does not bounce from room to room. In the use of local anesthetics, he tries to make injections as comfortable as possible using topical anesthetics, and pre warming the solutions.

Dr. Ed Smith

Dr. Smith was born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in Weatherford a small town just west of Fort Worth, Texas. He attended The University of Texas on a Football Scholarship and played under icon Texas football Coach Darrell Royal.

Dr. Smith is married and has three children and six grandchildren. He enjoys four wheeling off-road with his wife, playing baseball, golf, woodworking and especially following football. He loves dentistry and is continually learning new techniques through continuing education. “I’ve always enjoyed doing things with my hands; that’s probably the reason dentistry is so good for me. Today there are so many new materials and technologies that make dentistry so exciting. After many years of practice I continue to enjoy being with people and helping them with their dental care.”

Dr. Smith attended the University of Texas and after three years of undergraduate studies at UT, he was accepted and attended Baylor University College of Dentistry and graduated with Scholastic Honors and special honors in Endodontics (Root Canal Fillings). Dr. Smith joined the Air Force to start his dental career and serve his country. He served at ENT and Peterson Field Air Force Bases in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Dr. Smith has continued his education through multiple hours of coursework each year.
