Dentures can be full, which replace all of the teeth in an arch or partial, which only replace some of the missing teeth. In some cases dentures are referred to as being immediate which means they are placed in the mouth at the same appointment that the teeth are removed. Dr. Smith utilizes this technique often to prevent people from having to go without teeth, while waiting for the healing process to take place. He normally uses a soft liner, which helps the dentures to fit better and is more comfortable. Soft liners can be easily replaced at different phases of the healing process.
Dr. Smith does a great deal of the lab procedures himself such as ordering and setting the prosthetic teeth. This eliminates miscommunications with the labs and allows him and the patient to decide on the color and cosmetics of the denture. In many cases it allows him to make the dentures sooner and eliminates redoing some appointments.
